Cooperative Education (Co-op)

How Does Co-op Work?

The five year architecture cooperative education program at Northeastern University alternates academic semesters with semesters of work experience in the student's major field of study. The Architecture baccalaureate program is planned to include two mandatory six-month cooperative education experiences. This provides most students with 12 months of work experience prior to graduation (and because some of this work experience occurs AFTER the third academic year, or after students have earned 96 semester hours of credit, the experience will count towards their professional Intern Development Program, or IDP, requirements).
