Cooperative Education (Co-op)

How Does Co-op Work?

The five year architecture cooperative education program at Northeastern University alternates academic semesters with semesters of work experience in the student's major field of study. The Architecture baccalaureate program is planned to include two mandatory six-month cooperative education experiences. This provides most students with 12 months of work experience prior to graduation (and because this work experience occurs AFTER students have earned 80 semester hours of credit, the experience counts toward their professional Intern Development Program, or IDP, requirements).
