Undergraduate

The Northeastern University School of Architecture is located in the College of Arts and Sciences. This allows for a strong liberal arts balance to the required professional training that accompanies an architectural degree. Architecture joins other professional programs in Journalism and Education in the College, and encourages students to participate in all Arts and Sciences opportunities, including the Honors Program.

B.S. Architecture Degree

Northeastern University offers a four year, Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, that takes five years to complete because our students take two six-month periods off from the academic portion of their education to particpate in paid, full-time employment in architecture. This B.S. degree is not sufficient by itself to meet the academic requirement to sit for State licensure. For that, students need to complete Northeastern's one-year NAAB accredited Master of Architecture degree that is open to our B.S. graduates in good standing.

Minor in Architecture

The School of Architecture offers a Minor for students in the University who are interested in the field, but who do not choose to major in it. The minor requires the successful completion of four courses in architectural history. The courses are ARC 111 and ARC 112, a two semester survey of World Architecture; and ARC 325 and ARC 326, courses in 19th and 20th century architecture and urbanism. Students need not fill out paperwork to join the major, they need only complete the four courses and ask that they be given the recognition of the minor prior to graduation.
