Undergraduate

The Northeastern University School of Architecture is located in the College of Arts, Media, and Design. This new college includes, not only architecture, but also art, design, music, theater, journalism, and communication studies. The School of Architecture’s undergraduate curriculum links together the professional training necessary for a career in the field, but also the creative problem-solving and liberal arts preparation that is critical for navigating the challenges of today’s world. The undergraduate program includes required co-op and study-abroad semesters, and students are also welcome to participate in all College of Arts, Media and Design opportunities, including the Honors Program.

B.S. Degree in Architecture

Northeastern University offers a four year, Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, that takes five years to complete because our students take two six-month periods off from the academic portion of their education to particpate in paid, full-time employment in architecture. This B.S. degree is not sufficient by itself to meet the academic requirement to sit for State licensure. For that, students need to complete Northeastern's one-year NAAB accredited Master of Architecture degree that is open to our B.S. graduates in good standing.

B.S. Degree in Urban Landscape

Northeastern University offers a four year, Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Landscape, that takes five years to complete because our students take two six-month periods off from the academic portion of their education to particpate in paid, full-time employment in urban design or landscape architecture. This new B.S. degree is not yet accredited by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), but the School of Architecture will be pursuing candidacy status to ensure that current studentes can earn an accredited degree.

Minor in Architectural History

The School of Architecture offers a Minor for students in the University who are interested in the field, but who do not choose to major in it. The minor requires the successful completion of four courses in architectural history. The courses are ARCH 1310 and ARCH 1320, a two semester survey of World Architecture; and ARCH 2330 and ARCH 2340, courses in 19th and 20th century architecture and urbanism. Students need not fill out paperwork to join the major, they need only complete the four courses and ask that they be given the recognition of the minor prior to graduation.
