Public Engagement
Focusing on Real Problems
Architecture at Northeastern works with neighborhoods, municipalities, regional organizations, private developers, and planning groups to bring about innovations in the post-industrial built environment.
A crucial difference at the School of Architecture is the degree to which the research, practice, public lectures, conferences, symposia, and other academic output are all geared to engaging and improving the city as it actually exists. There is an inherent pragmatism to the selection of projects for design studios, topics for research, and locales for intervention. The School of Architecture has already worked with many cities and towns in the New England region, as well as public/ private agencies, professional organizations, and planning entities. The School has hosted conferences on Urban Design, Urban Housing, Infrastructure, and City Design. But this is only the beginning. By choosing to address the many challenges that face cities today, the School of Architecture is ensuring that it will play a central role in the region moving forward. At left you will find a list of those with whom we have already worked, and please come back often to find more partners in the future.
