Urban Gauge Planning Tool

2008-01-01
The Urban Gauge Planning Tool is conceived to help facilitate better coordination among local, regional, and financial interests in large-scale development projects. The idea is that the tool will provide "real-time" feedback during the public approvals process to allow interested parties to come to mutually beneficial agreements in months, rather than years. It will also provide for a better balance between local concerns (such as parking, congestion building height) with regional ones (such as environmental measures, automobile use, and housing affordability). The tool uses widely available web-based indices to keep all data current and transparent. It also includes visualization tools that allow users to understand the real-world consequences of their choices.
